چکیده
We have measured crystalline electric field (CEF) excitations of ${\mathrm{Nd}}^{3+}$ ions in the two-channel Kondo lattice candidates $\mathrm{Nd}{\mathit{T}}_{2}{\mathrm{Zn}}_{20}$ $(T = \mathrm{Co}, \mathrm{Rh}, \text{and} \mathrm{Ir})$ by means inelastic neutron scattering (INS). In INS measurements at 5 K, dispersionless were observed 3.8 and 7.2 meV for $T=\mathrm{Co}$, 3.1 5.8 $T=\mathrm{Rh}$, 3.0 5.3 $T=\mathrm{Ir}$. Analyses temperature dependence spectra confirm that CEF ground states are ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}}_{6}$ doublet, is a requisite manifestation magnetic effect. For shoulder was 7.7 close to excitation peak centered meV. The attributed bound state low-lying optical phonon excitations.

Study of low-energy magnetic excitations in single-crystalline CeIn3 by inelastic neutron scattering
Inelastic neutron scattering experiments were performed on single crystals of the heavy-fermion compound CeIn3 for temperatures below and above the Néel temperature, TN . In the antiferromagnetically ordered phase, well-defined spinwave excitations with a bandwidth of 2 meV are observed. The spin waves coexist with quasielastic (QE) Kondo-type spin-fluctuations and broadened crystal-field (CF) ...
متن کاملInelastic Neutron Scattering Study of Mn12-Acetate
We report zero-field inelastic neutron scattering experiments on a deuterated powder sample of Mn12-Acetate consisting of a large number of nominally identical spin-10 magnetic clusters. Our resolution enables us to see a series of peaks corresponding to transitions between the anisotropy levels within the spin-10 manifold. A fit to the spin Hamiltonian H = −DS z − μBB · g · S −

Using a combination of lattice dynamical calculations and inelastic neutron scattering experiments, we have studied the phonon properties of a variety of solids. The materials studied find a wide range of applications, which include the negative thermal expansion materials and other technologically important samples, and also geophysically relevant minerals. Often we have made it possible to pr...
متن کاملCollective dynamics in crystalline polymorphs of ZnCl2: potential modelling and inelastic neutron scattering study
We report a phonon density of states measurement of α-ZnCl2 using the coherent inelastic neutron scattering technique and a lattice dynamical calculation in four crystalline phases of ZnCl2 using a transferable interatomic potential. The model calculations agree reasonably well with the available experimental data on the structures, specific heat, Raman frequencies and their pressure variation ...
متن کاملMagnetic excitations in the low-temperature ferroelectric phase of multiferroic YMn2O5 using inelastic neutron scattering.
We studied magnetic excitations in a low-temperature ferroelectric phase of the multiferroic YMn(2)O(5) using inelastic neutron scattering (INS). We identify low-energy magnon modes and establish a correspondence between the magnon peaks observed by INS and electromagnon peaks observed in optical absorption [A. B. Sushkov et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 027202 (2007).]. Furthermore, we explain the...
